Basics are often overlooked and ignored in life and dentistry. I have made this mistake several times and hence I would like to share one of the most common mistakes I see doctors making with implant restorations leading to an inferior outcome.

Tip #1: Make it a habit to look at the contacts of your proximal teeth before scanning. If you have undercuts, faulty restorations, or uneven surfaces fix them to make the contacts parallel before you scan. Sometimes it’s easy to miss it that’s where this second tip will be useful.
Tip #2: Make it a habit to scan and move all the way to the design phase to evaluate your proximal contacts. If you overlooked before scanning you now have a 2nd chance to fix it while the patient is in the chair. This is assuming most doctors don’t deliver implant restoration same day.
These simple tips will save you time during delivery and money that you will waste from making inferior restorations.
